While a screen protector might not show the finger-prints as visibile as the glass does, I tend not to like the matte sheen that the protectors have on top of the glass not to mention the feel is way different and actually harder to clean than glass.<br /><br />The Oleophobic coating is a type of polymer applied to the glass.
